Toll in flood rises to 25, nearly 1.25 lakh evacuated: Nitish
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today assured of all possible help to nearly 26 lakh people of the state reeling under floods and said 25 people have lost their lives due to flash flood so far while nearly 1.25 lakh marooned people had been evacuated to safer places.

Mr Kumar speaking on the situation arising due to flood in both houses of the state legislature, informed members that the Terai region of Nepal had recorded very high rainfall this time during the last 3-4 days in comparison to previous years’ swelling rivers originating from Nepal and ultimately creating flood like situation in the state.
He said 12 districts of Sheohar, Sitamarhi, East Champaran, Madhubani, Araria, Kishanganj, Supaul, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Saharsa, Katihar and Purnea were hit by flood.
Mr Kumar said 25.71 lakh people were reeling under flood water living in 555 Panchayats of 78 blocks. He said the administration which was already in the alert mode immediately launched relief and rescue operation in flood-hit areas on comprehensive scale.
