Terming it as a “big win for India”, Congress on Wednesday welcomed the verdict of International Court of Justice in the Kulbhushan Jhadav case.
“We welcome the ruling by the International Court of Justice in the Kulbhushan Jhadhav case. This is a big win for India and we will continue to pray for his early return”, the party said in it’s official twitter handle.
In a major relief to Jadhav, the ICJ ruled that Jadhav’s death sentence awarded by a Pakistani military court should remain suspended.
The ICJ, however, said that the remedy sought by India, including annulment of Pak military court decision convicting Jadhav and his release and safe passage to India is rejected.
In a separate tweet, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said that “ICJ delivers ‘justice’ in the true sense of that word”.
“ICJ delivers ‘justice’ in the true sense of that word, upholding human rights, due procedure and the rule of law”, he tweeted.
Referring to the division in the court, he further said that it an unanimous verdict.
“A 15:1 verdict is actually a unanimous verdict”, Mr Chidambaram tweeted.
