Mhow, MP, Apr 14 – Mentioning that the Father of Indian Constitution, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, chose the path of non-violence and compassion in his public life, President Ram Nath Kovind today said that he carried forward the issues of interest to common man on the path of non-violence and achieved success.

“In order to ensure that women get equal share in property, Dr Ambedkar resigned from the Union Cabinet. He raised the issues of weaker sections including the Scheduled Caste, the Scheduled Tribe and backward class. However, he chose the path of non-violence for all these issues,” said Mr Kovind.

He was addressing a programme organised on the occasion of Dr Ambedkar’s 127th birth anniversary at his birthplace, Mhow, in Indore.

The President said that Dr Ambedkar used to place forward his views through dialogue and discussions for gaining consensus from others, so that harmony prevails in society.

“In his last address before the Constitution Assembly, Babasaheb said that constitutional means are now available for registering protest. Therefore, one should avoid anarchy,” he added.
