A bill to establish two central universities in Andhra Pradesh got the nod of Parliament with th Rajya Sabha passing it by vocie vote on Tuesday.

The Central University (Amendment) Bill, 2019, that provides for setting up of the Central Univ of Andhra Pradesh and the Central Tribal University in the state, was passed by the Rajya Sabha.
With the passage by Rajya Sabha, the Bill, that has already been passed in Lok Sabha, has got the nod of Parliament.
Replying to a discussion on the bill in the Upper House, Minister for human resource development Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said the Tribal Universities would not belong to the students from Andhra Pradesh alone.
He said that very soon a Tribal university would be set up in Telangana.
The Minister said that the Government has put the draft of the new education policy in public domain for people and all the stakeholders to give their feedback on it.
The Central University (Amendment) Bill, 2019 provides for the establishment of two Central Universities in Andhra Pradesh: the Central University of Andhra Pradesh and the Central Tribal University of Andhra Pradesh.

The Central Tribal University will provide higher educational and research facilities in tribal art, culture, and customs and cater primarily to the tribal population of India. The same bill was passed in Lok Sabha on July 12, 2019.
