Congress will effectively counter Modi and Shah: Siddaramaiah

Mysuru, Apr 25 : Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said the Congress would effectively counter the twin attack of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah during electioneering in the State for May 12 Assembly polls.

Talking to newsmen Mr Siddaramaiah said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi will campaign in the state for seven days ahead of the poll date and there would not be any problem for the party to return to power. Mr Gandhi will from tomorrow campaign in coastal Karnataka before touching down at Mysore. There would be road shows and public meetings , he added.

He said that he would visit his home constituency of Chamundeshwari today and return again only during the last two days and would also campaign in Badami, from where also he he is contesting, for a day. He reiterated that both the JD(S) and the BJP have arrived at an unofficial understanding to defeat the Congress and they would not succeed in their attempt. He said that the BJP had nominated weak candidates in Varuna and Chamundeshwari and also in few other constituencies and the JD(S) also to benefit the BJP had put up weak candidates . ‘What does this indicate? the two parties want to support each other in some constituencies to ensure the defeat of the Congress’ he added.
